Facebook launches profile frames that help you encourage friends to get the Covid-19 vaccine Facebook has partnered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to launch new Facebook profile frames that allow users to share their support for getting vaccinated with their family and friends. Facebook launched the frames due to research reporting how social norms can significantly impact people’s attitudes and behavior when it comes to their health. 

What Is BitClout? The Social Media Experiment Sparking Controversy on Twitter  BitClout is social media on a blockchain that generates social tokens (like Roll or Rally), representing actual people. Automated market makers control the supply of these social tokens’. The platform welcomes exchange listings and bridges to other blockchains. Google Maps’ new directions point you to the ‘cleanest’ route Google Maps has partnered with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to help make eco-routes with a new mapping model. It estimates the carbon emissions for the typical vehicle in a region on different routes, taking into account things like steep hills or heavy traffic on various roads and paths. These eco-routes will be on iOS and Android phones later this year, starting in the U.S. 

Spotify acquires live audio app Locker Room creator Betty Labs to launch its own Clubhouse competitor. The platform announced that it had acquired Betty Labs,  and the live sports audio app Locker Room. Locker Room will stay in the App Store but will be rebranded with a different name in the future and, eventually, Android with a broader focus on music, culture, and sports content. Spotify will also experiment with varying features of monetization, he says. Some chats might be free to tune into, for example, while others are paid. The two apps will remain separate. 

Google launched a cool document scanner called Stack  Stack uses your phone’s camera to create a scan of a document, such as a receipt, bill, or a banking statement. The app also reads some of the key data from your document and organizes your scanned documents into folders. These folders, called “Stacks,” are labeled as various categories, such as receipts, bills, vehicle, house, IDs, etc.

Cameo Aims to Connect Celebrities With Fans, and It’s Now Valued at $1 Billion  Cameo is a 4-year start-up that tripled its valuation to more than $1 billion this week. This valuation reflects the demand for platforms that help celebrities and content creators make money from their fan bases. Cameo was valued at roughly $300 million in 2019 after raising $50 million.
